Happy Birthday Marion! at the Annenberg Community Beach House. Celebrate with the Santa Monica Conservancy the life and career of Marion Davies: classic film era actress, philanthropist, famed party hostess and mistress of media tycoon William Randolph Hearst, at Davies’ 1928 Julia Morgan designed Guest House.

FromSun-Jan11-2015-AnnenbergBeachHouse-HB-Marion 11am – 1pm, step back in time to view photos and hear stories from docents and historians Michael Yakaitis and Lara Fowler, highlighting the life and personality of Marion Davies, a woman once celebrated as like the “bubbles in a glass of champagne.”

At 11:15am see Marion in action as the star of the 1928, King Vidor film, Show People, with a special introduction by film historian and producer Elaina Archer. At 1:15pm, Janet Klein and John Reynolds perform naughty and nice tunes of the 20s and 30s, followed by a special birthday tribute to Marion at 1:45pm.

Offramp Gallery presents a solo exhibition, “Anita Bunn: No Real Edge,” from 2015.

Sun-Jan11-2015-Offramp-AnitaBunnThe work included in “No Real Edge” is a series of digital captures printed as continuous tone lithographs. “Untitled Iteration (Grid #2)” consists of three repeating images that appear in subtle combinations of black, white, and gray. These lithographs are part of a larger series of unique prints that includes the same three images as single and layered lithographs using the non-primary colors of the subtractive and additive color wheels.

Also on view is an installation, sculpture & video collaboration, Jessica Curtaz & Anita Bunn: Standing Still.

There will be a closing reception & artist’s talk on Sunday, February 8 from 2-5pm.
