Mount Wilson Observatory holds its fifth Sunday Afternoon Concert in the Dome; Strings Attached! will perform with its string trios and quartet. The band includes: Ambroise Aubrun (violin), Kate Hamilton (viola), Cécilia Tsan (cello), and Allan Hon (cello).

The dome of the 100-inch telescope at the Observatory features exceptional acoustics. There will be two times for the same concert – first at 3:00pm and again at 5:00pm. Tickets are available for purchase online in advance (highly recommended) or at the door, given availability. Santa Monica

Today the Americana in the Park continues at Gandara Park. The music series is presented in partnership with the City of Santa Monica and McCabe’s Guitar Shop. Each Sunday in September it will feature Americana music as well as offering eats available to purchase at several food trucks.

Student group Mariachi Los Catrines opens with Los Straitjackets headlining with high energy instrumental guitar rock and roll from around the world.

West LA

CIACLA Contemporary Irish Arts Center of Los Angeles presents A Night in November at the Pico Playhouse. The multi-award winning one-person play written by written by Marie Jones, and performed by Alan Smyth is set in Northern Ireland. It centers on Kenneth McCallister, a bored protestant dole clerk who has witnessed hatred and bigotry in his own community. Then he sets out on a voyage of discovery and redemption. Close by in Westwood….Geffen Playhouse hosts two shows for the final day of The Brothers Size. The show is written by Tarell Alvin McCraney, and directed by Bijan Sheibani. It is a co-production with The Shed featuring Alani iLongwe, Malcolm Mays & Sheaun McKinney.
