Well it’s the first day of Fall, and the last day of the 3rd weekend of September….so that means it officially ends the busy burst of art openings that take place across the first two weekends, and yes these days now extends into the third weekend. Mama needs a vacation now. Sunday September 22, 2024 art parties and events include lots of music, as well as Mount Wilson Observatory’s Arts @ the Observatory and also the continuation of Cumbia Week in LA. Downtown…Today’s Smorgasburg Los Angeles features ice cream pop-ups and also smorg resident cool treat vendors. It is a popular weekly culinary adventure at Row DTLA every Sunday. Head to Hollywood for the final day of The L.A. Times Food Bowl. City National Bank presents the eighth annual event. As always it is being held at the Paramount Pictures Studios backlot. Attendees can enjoy unlimited bites from well known restaurants from the LA area in addition to special guest restaurants from other states. Santa Monica
Today the Americana in the Park continues at Gandara Park. The music series is presented in partnership with the City of Santa Monica and McCabe’s Guitar Shop. Each Sunday in September it will feature Americana music as well as offering eats available to purchase at several food trucks. Molly Miller opens with instrumental Americana jazz songs tinged with folk and Surf Rock vibes along with powerful original compositions of The Azar Lawrence Experience headlining. Hollywood
The City of Los Angeles celebrates Cumbia week from September 20, 2024, to September 27, 2024. Various venues across LA will participate in the event. Cumbia is one of Latin America’s most prominent folklore musical traditions. African, indigenous and early European settlers have inspired this stlye of music and rhythm. It was first established on the Colombian coast over a century ago.
Tonight head to the Hollywood Bowl to enjoy a full Cumbia line-up of amazing acts. Bands include: Grupo Cañaveral de Humberto Pabón,La Sonora Dinamita, Los Hermanos Flores, Cumbiatón, with KCRW Host Raul Campos.
