haleARTS S P A C E features the work of Michael Temple and Karen Sikie. Many of you may know Michael Temple as MikeHaleArtsoutside Tempo the founder and percussionist of the beloved band “The Bonedaddys.” Many of us fans have spent nights dancing to the incredible world beat band in our younger years.

Well it turns out, all those years when Mike was out playing music, and touring, he was also painting too. I just love that. He has a huge volume of work…some really amazing art.

I had the chance to catch up with the artist to find out about what he’s been up to. Temple’s art has a percussive nature. One cannot help but compare it to his music and see the rhythm in his work. He is currently working on a new series. When asked if he dabbles between several series at a time, he replied, “Much like moving between a performance art such as music and the solitary endeavor that painting usually needs to be, I see that painting in different “tracks” allows each to inform the other. It’s also fun and less boring and suitable to different personal moods and circumstances.”

Temple has been included in group shows all over the U.S. In fact he just sold a piece in Kansas City, where his work is showing at The Dolphin Gallery.

Temple’s work is currently on view as part of the “Rose Retrospectives” at the Rose Cafe.  The exhibit at the Rose will be on view through July 7th. Earlier in the year, his art was part of several group shows at the Santa Monica Airport Art Walk and Trunk Gallery.
