Pick of the Week is the LA Art show, where so many incredible galleries come to feature their artists. I went last year and it was so much fun to see such great art from all over the world, all in one place.
There are three art shows this weekend…the Affordable Art Fair as well as Art Los Angeles Contemporary happening at the Barker Hanger. One can’t do it all…so the LA Art Show is my PICK!
The LA Art Show: Modern & Contemporary features the latest work from today’s renowned and emerging artists. This year’s event will offer performance pieces, mixed media and video installations, photography, paintings and sculptures, and a series of curated special exhibitions.
It’s a wonderful event to meet new people, network, admire art and if you are a true collector, pick up some exceptional pieces.
Galleries come together from around the world, featuring the works of Ed Ruscha, John Baldessari, Henry Moore, Sebastião Salgado, David Hockney, Judy Chicago, Roy Lichtenstein, Arshile Gorky, Jim Dine, Andy Warhol, Fernando Botero and others
The prices are not too steep….if you order online, only $15.00 for the day…but $40.00 ($5.00 off online) will get you a whole weekend pass. Of course there is an incredible premiere party featuring food and drink from top LA restaurants. I’ll be there….it was a fab party last year.
The opening premiere art party kicks off the show on Wednesday, January 18th from 7:00 pm till 10:00 pm. Yes it does cost $125.00 per person. However, it goes to a good cause, The Art of Elysum, which is a fabulous non profit organization. http://www.theartofelysium.org
Remember DEVO? Well, musician, Mark Mothersbaugh and artist will be debuting a new installation combining sculpture and music in an interactive experience during the opening night party. It can be found at the Art of Elysium exhibition space.
The LA Art Show will be held at the Los Angeles Convention Center, West Hall A, 1201 South Figueroa St., LA, 90015; Be sure to check their website. http://www.laartshow.com
