Pick of the Week is “Test Pilots II,” a group exhibition at Bleicher Golightly gallery in Santa Monica. The opening reception takes place on Saturday, May 26th from 8:00 p.m. unitll 10:00 p.m. See my article in this week’s Santa Monica Mirror coming out on Friday.

This is the secondHeadshot KarrieRoss installment of the series. The former, featured new artists as well as ones previously shown at the gallery incorporating new techniques. This upcoming exhibit features all new artists, such as Karrie Ross who is looking forward to showing for the first time at Bleicher Golightly gallery.

Karrie Ross has been painting since she was seven years old. A Los Angeles native, Karrie’s work has been featured in TV shows and movies as well as all over the world, in commercial and retail spaces from hotels in Japan to Design Showrooms in the U.S. She has a strong history of being hired to create retail and residential commission artwork. Ross spent over twelve years creating art for the home décor industry through a gallery at High Point.

Ross refers to her art as being “healing based,” always striving to create a balance within the surrounding environment, due to her Feng Shui training. She talks about her art, “I am particularly drawn to spirals, not only in shape but in the concept of the continuous movement of energy. At the inner-most workings of the atom is a vibration… THAT is what is the source… our generator of personal energy, the all that we are.”

Co-owner and director of Bleicher Golightly gallery, Om Navon Bleicher has been curating shows for the past six years. He explains “At our Santa Monica gallery we change exhibits as often as every 3 weeks. Since we have a lot of travelers, we have a cash and carry policy on most shows so the exhibits are constantly morphing as new work is brought in to replace sold works.”

For “Test Pilots II,” Om has selected a work entitled “Multi Dimension” from Karrie’s award winning Energy Blooms series for the upcoming exhibition. The show will spotlight artists that are “crossing into new territory… different approaches and techniques than explored in the past.”

The chosen pi5.26 lowres KarrieRoss-BleicherGolightly-300ece (see image to left) explores Karrie’s Energy Blooms new direction in cream paint instead of black, with a splash of color as the resulting “real-like” flower replacing the previous added pencil spirals. The series continues to explore her fascination with energy vibration and the flower color, line, and more ‘silent-like’ surroundings are now becoming the instigator of the energy vibration in the artwork.  See Karrie’s website at http://www.karrierossfineart.com/
