Peter Fetterman Gallery offers us a new exhibition titled The World of Sebastião Salgado. This large-scale exhibition showcases the renowned photographer’s work. This retrospective highlights Salgado’s groundbreaking career. The exhibition opened on March 15, 2025, and runs through June 21, 2025.

The exhibition features photographs spanning more than four decades of Salgado’s career. His most iconic images appear as handcrafted gelatin silver prints and rare platinum palladium prints. While the exhibition runs through the entire gallery, the solo show is a carefully curated. The exhibition reveals Salgado’s extraordinary ability to unite his documentary storytelling style with his artistic vision.
One of the most influential photographers of his time, Salgado has captured powerful stories through a humanistic lens. His work explores global issues, including labor struggles, migration, and environmental destruction.
The exhibition includes key images from his most celebrated series, such as the Serra Pelada Gold Mines and conflict in Africa. His haunting depictions of the Gulf War’s oil fires and his latest project, Amazonia, also take center stage.

Furthermore, visitors can experience GENESIS, his environmental magnum opus featuring untouched landscapes, wildlife, and indigenous cultures.

For over 30 years, Peter Fetterman has celebrated Salgado’s work, sharing a deep respect for photography’s power to inspire change. Introduced to Salgado by master photographers Henri Cartier-Bresson and Martine Franck, Fetterman continues to play a key role in elevating his work in the fine art world.

Born in Aimorés, Brazil, in 1944, Salgado first trained as an economist before pursuing photography. Now based in Paris, he collaborates closely with his wife, Lélia Wanick Salgado, who curates and publishes his work. The World of Sebastião Salgado offers a rare opportunity to experience the vision of one of history’s greatest documentary photographers.
