Thursday, Friday, October 16-17, 2025, Art Parties & Events bring us a plethora of events to start off the weekend. On Thursday, Skirball’s Draw Them In, Paint Them Out opens along with a performance of San Cha: Inebria Me at RedCat. Moreover we have listed theatre on both nights and also Wonzimer hosts an opening art party on Friday for Drawing from Imperfectionism.

Brentwood…Draw Them In, Paint Them Out officially opens today at the Skirball Cultural Center. The exhibition brings together Philip Guston and Trenton Doyle Hancock. Guston, the child of Jewish immigrants from Odessa, created biting satirical paintings addressing evil and injustice. Hancock, a Houston-based contemporary Black artist, responds with bold works examining identity, otherness, and activism. Event: 12-5pm; Skirball Cultural Center, 2701 N. The Geffen Playhouse presents LittleBoy/LittleMan written by Rudi Goblen directed by Nancy Medina. Synopsis: Nicaraguan brothers Fíto and Bastian clash over their visions of the American Dream. San Cha: Inebria Me opens tonight at RedCat and runs through Saturday. LA-based composer, musician, and performance artist San Cha presents this new experimental opera.

San Cha appears as Dolores, a beauty of humble means who, after marrying wealthy Salvador, is caught in a web of jealousy and abuse.  Moreover the show includes melodrama reminiscent of popular telenovelas. Wonzimer Gallery is proud to present Drawing from Imperfectionism, a large group exhibition that stands as a philosophical counterpoint to our contemporary search for perfection. Curated by artist Alaïa Parhizi, this show is an ode to the beauty found in flaws, accidents, and also the unique, irreplaceable nature of human creation.

The exhibition features a diverse collection of drawings, each a final work of art that embraces the principles of Imperfectionism. Furthermore, this movement, founded by Parhizi in 2014, challenges the anthropocentric belief that we can control our world as well as our destiny. Instead, it finds grace in the humility of flawed forms—a philosophy that has deep roots in traditions from Japanese Wabi-Sabi to deliberate “mistakes” in Islamic art and also the subconscious-driven accidents of Dada and Surrealism. The Inkwell Theater at Broadwater Main Stage presents Emmy Award winner Elliot Shoenman’s WORLD PREMIERE of Paper Walls. Be aware tonight’s performance is a preview. The show officially opens tomorrow. It runs through November 9, 2025. The play tells a poignant story very similar to what is happening today. A family who is profoundly affected by Hitler’s rise to power, finds themselves desperately fleeing persecution while awaiting entry into the United States. Restrictive U.S. immigration policies as well as antisemitism intensify their struggle.
