GDCA Gallery is proud to present its November, 2019 exhibition line-up: a solo exhibition titled “Solvang Meets London” featuring the art of Alexander Onley, along with “BLUSH,” a group show. There will be an opening reception on Saturday, November 23, 2019.
For his solo exhibit “Solvang Meets London,” Alexander Onley brings together his large-scale oil paintings of the Solvang, California countryside with city, land and interior views of London, England, based on his own travels. Both series of works articulate Onley’s preoccupation with analogizing the experience of place. The semi-abstract paintings distill the drama each site uniquely holds and provide the contradictory proposition that such drama is both temporal to their viewer and an inherent quality.

“BLUSH” – is an ode to foliage colors of fall, with repeated groupings of quadrants, as a reference to their framework of the 4 seasons. The group exhibition features a variety of media, including painting, mixed media, mixed media collage, digital woodblock collage, photography & sculpture.

Participating Artists: Nurit Avesar, Susanne Belcher, Suzanne Budd, Stacia Gates, Alexander Gramm, Karen Hansen, Maureen Haldeman, Ty Joseph, Jane Marshall, Shilpa Sushil, Sail Swalla & Robert Toll.

The gallery will be open TONIGHT (Thursday, November 14) for the Downtown Art Walk takes from 6-10pm.
