Saturday May 10 2025 Arts and Entertainment events are an eclectic group tonight. Not only do we have art parties at various galleries, Duncan Miller Gallery celebrates its new gallery downtown. Plus the Hammer hosts a screening and Q & A, and we have listed some as well.

Lowell Ryan Projects hosts an opening art party for new exhibitions. Marisa Regante: Unspoken Pleasures of the New Frontier. This is the first solo exhibition by New Jersey-based, self-taught artist. In this suite of nine small-scale intricate oil paintings, Regante interlaces surrealism, personal symbolism, and retro Americana into rich, cinematic tableaux.
In addition, Sam Michell: Sour Orange the artist’s first solo exhibition in Los Angeles will debut at the gallery. Based in Mérida, Mexico, Michell presents deeply personal yet formally disciplined investigation into corporeal memory and emotional proximity. LA Theatre
The Ahmanson Theatre presents Life of Pi a winner of three Tony Awards® as well as the Olivier Award for Best Play. It is a stirring fantasy style tale of wonder and adventure. Lolita Chakrabarti has an adapted dazzling stage adaptation of Yann Martel’s best-selling novel (over 15 million copies sold). The show opened to critical acclaim on Broadway and the West End. In Hollywood…The School of Night presents the World Premiere of Hellas, written and directed by Christopher William Johnson at the Broadwater Mainstage. Tonight’s performance is 5 hours. It features parts 1 & II (with three intermissions). As part of the Brand Associates Dance Series, enjoy Afro-Peruvian experience: Echoes of resistance at the Brand Library Plaza. Curated by acclaimed choreographer, teacher and producer Jamie Nichols, the series features top dance companies from Southern California. Attendees can expect a cultural journey through the African diaspora in Peru, its music, theater, poetry and Afro-Peruvian dances as part of tonight’s performance. The dance troupe brings a cultural heritage of the African diaspora in Peru. O-Launch Annual Exhibition
In Westchester…Tonight, the official opening of the O-Launch Annual Exhibition takes place at Otis College of Art and Design.
Celebrate the graduating students from Otis College’s BFA and MFA programs, experience the Fashion Department’s annual runway show, connect with fellow alumni at the Alumni Reception, shop the student ceramic and book sales, and enjoy a live DJ and food trucks. Westwood
The Hammer will host an art talk as well as a screening of three of Sarah Maldoror’s works created for cinema and broadcast television. The Q&A with producer and distributor Annouchka de Andrade, daughter of the filmmaker and theater artist and UCLA Associate Professor Ellen C. Scott. The event is presented by the UCLA Film & Television Archive and the Hammer Museum. Maldoror passed away due to complications from the coronavirus in 2020 at 90 years of age. The African diasporic film director has been remembered in various posthumous celebrations of her life. Her daughter Annouchka de Andrade has been instrumental in preserving her mother’s legacy.
