Luis De Jesus Los Angeles presents three exhibitions opening on April 19, and running through May 31, 2025. The solo shows include: Laura Karetzky: Liar, Liar, Robert Kushner: Dahlias—Fields of Steadfastness, as well as Jim Adams: Flight of Mirrors. An opening reception will be held on April 19, 2025 from 4-7pm.
Laura Karetzky: Liar, Liar is the artist’s second solo exhibition with the gallery. She challenges traditional narrative structures by merging multiple moments into a unified, believable instance. Thus altering the viewer’s perception of time and perspective. Her works create the sensation of experiencing multiple narratives at once, rather than following a single, linear story.
Laura Karetzky Liar Liar

Laura Karetzky, Briscola, 2025, Oil on canvas, 55 x 72 in (139.7 x 182.9 cm)
Karetzky’s double-sided works cut openings into the picture plane, inviting the outside world in. These openings create space for unpredictable relationships to form. Other works remain one-sided but convey temporal friction through layered perspectives. In today’s turbulent climate, her practice questions truth—how we tell it, obscure it, or navigate its competing versions. She blends oil painting, clay sculpture, woodcut, and sgraffito to push artistic boundaries. Her compositions carve paint into relief surfaces and use ceramic glazes to create illusionistic space. They challenge the limits of the rectangular canvas.
Robert Kushner: Dahlias—Fields of Steadfastness
In Gallery 2, Robert Kushner: Dahlias—Fields of Steadfastness also opens. Luis De Jesus owner of the gallery said he feels honored to exhibit Kushner’s work for the second time at the gallery. “I have known Robert Kushner for three decades, a serendipitous blessing that I chalk up to our mutual commitment to art and meditation. I’m equally pleased to share this personal note from him, below. This small window into his life and work captures the essence of who he is as a person and an artist: generous and kind, with a sharp, inquisitive mind and exquisite vision—but perhaps even more, a sagacious spirit and sense of self.
This new series of paintings pays tribute to one of his favorite flowers, the dahlia—symbol of beauty, eternal love, resilience and inner strength—and marks a unique moment in his long and distinguished career. I hope you enjoy them as much as we do.”
Jim Adams: Flight of Mirrors
Finally, Jim Adams: Flight of Mirrors will debut in Gallery 3. This is the artist’s second solo exhibition with the gallery. The paintings in Flight of Mirrors continue Jim Adams’ long-standing exploration of portraiture and mythology. He reimagines himself within landscapes and interiors that merge past and present. The art was created over the past six years during the pre- and post-Covid period. In addition, it includes portraits from the mid-1990s and 2000s, Adams sparks a dialogue across history, identity, and social change. Thus drawing from his deep engagement with history and current events to reinterpret timeless narratives for our contemporary world.
