Saturday, June 29, 2024 brings us fun art parties and events. Gallery Weekend continues, in addition to art parties, we also have art talks, a festival, as well as all day events and some live music. It’s a big night featuring twenty one events!

The Santa Monica Pier 360 Beach Festival celebrates its 15th annual event. The two-day festival features ocean/beach sports competitions, live music, Polynesian dance performance, ocean brews + bites garden, kids zone, interactive games, as well as a sampling by popular brands. Luis de Jesus Los Angeles presents an art talk in conjunction with its current exhibitions featuring artists Melissa Huddlesto, as well as Phung Huynh. The conversation will center around the processes and themes of the artists. Moreover Huddleston will guide us through her exhibition Primordial Spring, and Phung Huynh will lead us through her immersive installation, Return Home. Shoshana Wayne Gallery presents Anna Lukashevsky: The New Immigrants. Over the past two years, Artist Anna Lukashevsky has been painting new immigrants from Russia and Ukraine.
The New Immigrants project took a poignant turn after October 7th, when Lukashevsky was compelled to portray the emotional toll of Israel’s war against Hamas. Co-founded by Liz Hirsch, a writer, historian, and educator as well as Joshua Smith, an artist, the gallery will feature contemporary artists from LA and NY. One more in Hollywood…The Hole celebrates Tone Poem, its summer exhibition in Los Angeles. The group show features works that are all within the same tonal range. The exhibition includes many monochromes as well as what you could call “limited palette” or reduced palette paintings.

A bit later, also in the Beverly/Fairfax area…KP Projects unveils Picturesque Hallucinations, by Rafael Silveira. This is the artist’s first solo show with KP Projects as well as in LA. Silveira’s surrealist work includes figures and objects in the same cascading and undulating patterns as the natural (or perhaps unnatural) environment that surrounds them. Therefore, the artwork brings to mind both interconnection and sameness among living beings.
