The LA Times launches a new community book club…The Los Angeles Times Book Club. After the success of America’s largest literary event, the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books, this renowned publication wants keep the storytelling and conversation going year-round.

What to expect:
Every month a new book will be selected, The LA Times will publish stories exploring the topic, and invite you to read along. Then enjoy a community book club evening with the featured author and you’ll be invited to join that, too. The focus will be on books and authors relevant to Southern California and the West – books that illuminate and explain our unique landscape, culture, identity and history.
First Up:

“The Library Book,” a whodunit and portrait of L.A. as a city of readers by bestselling author Susan Orlean. The first event happens on June 25, 7:30 to 9:30 pm at the Barnsdall Gallery Theatre, as Orlean sits down in conversation with L.A. Times Deputy Managing Editor Julia Turner.
