dnj Gallery owner Pamela Schoenberg has been working with LACP and its founder Julia Dean since 2014. “I am on the board of this amazing organization. I am honored to be asked to present this important exhibition. Julia Dean’s teaching expertise is a great asset, as she serves as a mentor to these kids, explaining new ways to explore visually.”

Schoenberg explained that dnj Gallery hosts LACP classes, and its annual members’ exhibit in August, in addition to board meetings, and other miscellaneous events. She also often provides reviews for their annual portfolio reviews. She went on to stress the importance of LACP’s mission and how it helps low income families, providing education and exposure to the arts. This collaboration with the Boys & Girls Club provides an often unavailable resource, as photography courses for children are usually expensive and inaccessible for numerous families.

LACP has created a special photography program designed specifically for the Boys & Girls Clubs in LA County. The end result is a group exhibition featuring artworks by kids and young adults ranging from 12 to 18 years of age that have participated in the program.July13-2019-520Size-dnjGallery-LACP-BGofAmerica-Collaboration

Here is some more info from LACP’s website:
“A big part of LACP’s mission is to provide ‘focused programming for youth and low-income families, and community outreach. We take this very seriously. As a staple in the photographic community, our organization recognizes the importance of giving back by providing education in the photographic arts for underserved youth and other non-profits. This is accomplished through strategic programming at local schools, one-one-one mentoring, supporting local raffles or benefits, and providing our facility to those organizations in need.” – Julia Dean,
