Théâtre Raymond Kabbaz celebrates 45 years of Lula Washington Dance Theatre.This extraordinary performance honors Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. as well as the legendary artists who made an impact on this legendary company. Attendees will enjoy the world premiere of Something to Think About, a new work by Lula Washington. Moreover, the pieces pays tribute to the experimental choreographer Rudy Perez, whose innovative artistry deeply impacted Lula’s own creative journey. In addition, the evening will feature work inspired by Langston Hughes’ poetry, in a revival of Donald McKayle’s I’ve Known Rivers.

This timeless piece honor the work of Pearl Primus and Janet Collins, two of dance’s most influential figures. Additionally, the Lula Washington Dance Theatre will perform the MLK solo from The Movement. This work was originally set to one of Dr. King’s most moving early speeches, reminding us all of his vision for a more just and unified world. In Lincoln Heights…Wonzimer Gallery throws an opening art party for its new group show titled Transience to the Infinite. Curated by Cynthia Penna, Transience to the Infinite brings together a diverse group of ten artists.
