L.A. Louver celebrates its 50th anniversary with an all day opening for a new exhibition surveying the gallery’s history from its formation in 1975 to present day. Patricia Sweetow Gallery unveils a solo exhibition titled Connective Threads featuring the spun thread ‘paintings’ of Uma Rani Iyli. Having grown up in India’s traditional caste-based society, Iyli identifies as belonging to the female Indian weaver’s community.

In Chinatown, NOON Projects throws an opening art party for Cream Sand. This is Finnish artist Maija Luutonen’s first solo exhibition in the United States. Close by in Boyle Heightsparrasch heijnen brings us a five-decade selection of collage and assemblage by Altadena, CA-based artist La Monte Westmoreland (b. 1941, Racine, WI).

Titled La Monte Westmoreland: A Survey, 1974 – 2024, this is the artist’s first solo exhibition at the gallery. Additionally, this show is part of a series of solo exhibitions featuring former Brockman Gallery artists. The Geffen Playhouse, and Steppenwolf Theatre Company present NOISES OFF at the Gil Cates Theater. This hysterical British farce written by Michael Frayn is directed by Anna D. Shapiro.
