Frederika Roeder opens in “About a Box,” a group show at Shoebox Projects. The artist-in-residence in a shoebox event features various shoeboxes…all for $500.
“Surpris” 12″ X x 7″ H x 4.75″ Deep, Collage using two sketchbook paintings, with acrylic glaze, acrylic pen, Windsor Newton inks and acrylic iridescence
“My piece is called “Surpris,” explained Roeder. The artist created the artwork in honor of Ursula Krauss who was a co-organizer of Academia Luciano in Civitella d’Agliano. Roeder continued, “She used this word – with her Rumanian/German accent – and I whenever I start dreaming of another residency somewhere in the Southern Mediterranean, I am reminded of it, and her. My box is an artist’s rendition of a scrapbook or summer holiday album – warm, sunny and playful and full of memories. Inside the box there is a ‘surpris.'”
Meet the artists including Roeder who will be in attendance.
