Corey Helford Gallery (CHG) unveiled new exhibitions on April 22, 2023. You have until May 27, 2023 to view these shows. In the main gallery enjoy Ephemeral Existence by Japanese oil painter Mayuka Yamamoto. In gallery 2, tHERApy room 2  by trailblazing artist Hera of HERAKUT one half of the internationally acclaimed graffiti and street art duo from Germany is on display.

About Mayuka Yamamoto

Widely recognized as one of Japan’s leading second-generation contemporary artists, Yamamoto is known for her oil paintings portraying children in animal suits (or some other defensive, physical animalistic costume) with enigmatic facial expressions. The artist’s paintings often appear reticent and introspective. The emotions of the child characters in Yamamoto’s works, or “animal boys” as she often calls them, are meant to be a mystery to the viewer. They exude an aura of otherworldly calm and demeanor that belies their true emotional and psychological states, juxtaposed against subtle settings painted in soft, muted color tones.

About Hera of HERAKUT

tHERApy room 2, marks Hera’s fist solo show in the U.S. since CHG hosted Hera’s debut solo Hera We Go Again in November 2021. Hera (aka Jasmin Siddiqui) combines her skills as a graffiti artist, illustrator, poet, and storyteller to create fluid figures with simultaneously elegant and chaotic line and brushstrokes. Her work is often a statement on the human condition and experiences of childhood.

Born in Frankfurt, Germany in 1981, Hera (aka Jasmin Siddiqui) has a classic art education that started at the age of eight, followed by studying Visual Communication and Graphic Design at the University of Applied Sciences in Wiesbaden. Often a statement on the human condition and experiences of childhood, Hera’s work combines her skills as a graffiti artist, illustrator, poet, and storyteller to create fluid figures with simultaneously elegant and chaotic lines and brushstrokes.
