In Downtown LA…

L.A. Artcore is pleased to announce a special solo exhibition for artist Burton Kopelow. At the age of 89 Burton Kopelow is having his first, long-awaited exhibition at the LA Artcore Brewery Annex.

KoSun-Feb-2-LAArtcore-Kopelow LGpelow is a self-taught artist with a large body of work and this retrospective show, which reflects his striking and distinctive abstract style, represents a fraction of his catalogue of over 2,000 pieces. Nearly 100 abstract pieces from the 1970s through today will be on view; ranging from wall-filling works of vibrant, colorful, geometric shapes with touches of irregular tessellation to smaller more recent works of more organic, free-form abstraction.

There will also be a conversation with the artists at 2 pm.

Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery (LAMAG) and CSUF Begovich Gallery present a F. Scott Hess Retrospectives.

The show, spanning five decades of Hess’ art is being presented concurrently at both locations and is accompanied by an approximately 160-page catalog.

His psychologically charged paintings delve into the depths of the human psyche. Hess has an uncanny facility for portraying nuanced poses and gestures that communicate complex emotional states and engaging, often open-ended, narratives.

The CSUF Begovich Gallery exhibition was held from January 25 to February 27, 2014…Now its LAMAG’s turn at Barnsdall.
