Valentine Day Art

In terms of art parties, and events we have a nice bunch. There are two large events that I would like to point out. Attune LA is an art based event happening in various parts of LA. Then Gloria Molina Grand Park celebrates valentine’s day with DJs, art, shopping (buy her something!!) and also a classic car show.

Glendale

Forest Lawn Museum hosts its closing art party for In Bloom: Flowers in Contemporary Art. The early event beginning at 11am will offer tours by the exhibition curator, live music, as well as light refreshments. The free event will also include a free raffle (entries must be received by 1pm). Multiple artists from the exhibition will be in attendance. Musicians from OSO (One Sound Object) will be performing live in the Gothic Corridor next to the museum. This performance is part of Kim Schoen’s work Oracles, which is on view in the exhibition. Hannah Sloan Curatorial & Advisory throws an opening art  party as well as an art talk for there is little left at all. Head to Gloria Molina Grand Park to enjoy a celebration of Valentine’s day with Love Notes. “Oldies but goodies” will be spun by Dedicated to You’s DJs Lee Set and Devil One. The music of the 4-hour love event is inspired by the legacy of radio host Art Laboe. In addition to great music, the event will feature a drone show that will light up the night sky, as well as a classic car show courtesy of Viejitos SGV.

Plus attendees can dive in and participate in art activities. Takashi Murakami: Hark Back to Ukiyo-e: Tracing Superflat to Japonisme’s Genesis opens at Perrotin. The artist’s latest works advance his theory of how ukiyo-e transformed the global art scene in the late 1800s. However, in recent years, Murakami has reflected on how landscape prints from Japan spurred Impressionists to adopt more subjective and abstract approaches to composition and painting. Attune is a free, one‑night exhibitions featuring multiple simultaneous sound and light art events. Presented by NXT Art Foundation and Arup, it was created to unite communities across LA County.

Valentine Day Art

In the Bendix BuildingTrack 16 throws an opening art party for And it Keeps Coming ‘Til the Day it Stops by Cole Case. The solo exhibition features new oil paintings on linen and canvas. Brassroots District celebrates its self titled album with Brassroots District: LA ’74. The immersive theater-concert takes place at Jewel’s Catch One and takes audiences back to the year 1974. Meanwhile, the band released a new single, “Takin’ Back Day Dreamin’,” featuring Robert Randolph. The release follows growing buzz around fan favorite “You Caught Me Baby.”

The New Ruskin Group Theatre Arts Center opens its inaugural production titled Honour. Written by Joanna Murray-Smith & directed by Max Mayer, it features Marcia Cross and Matthew Letscher. Synopsis: A sharp and authentic examination of love, betrayal, and the fragile agreements that hold marriages together. When a celebrated writer can’t seem to “do the right thing,” decades of loyalty, intimacy, and compromise unravel in a single evening.
