Zebi creates her art

In Baldwin Hills Crenshaw…It’s time for the Pan African Film & Arts Festival ArtFest. It began on February 7 and will run through February 16, 2026. While the actual film festival will run February 16-22, the ArtFest runs ten days earlier. So stay tuned, we will list that as well. The ArtFest brings together over one hundred talented artist celebrating Africa and its diaspora. Expect to see a variety of media, as well as wearable art such as jewelry, fashions, ceramics, and home décor.

West LAUCLA Department of Art celebrates its undergraduate juried exhibition with an opening art party in addition to an art talk with the juror. Hugo Cervantes, Curator, Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery (LAMAG) is the juror for the group exhibition. Mid City

DMST Atelier hosts an art talk in conjunction with SIKE! The solo show by American artist Joseph Sherman.

The artwork was created during Joseph’s 2025–26 artist residency with the gallery and spotlights his current interests in repetition, labor, and materiality. The show was titled with the slang word “sike” as a nod to his childhood. Growing up Illinois, the artist used the word often. The exhibition asks attendees to look beyond the work, as it may not be what you think. Santa Monica

Dorado 806 Projects offers a dual exhibition titled Under Pressure. The two person show is curated by Heather Bowling of HyperSpace Arts. It features the sculptural fiber works of Loretta Bozung as well as the paintings of Emberly Modine. Park La Brea area

Babst Gallery celebrates the art of John Willenbecher with an opening art party. The exhibition features recent paintings and works on paper by the artist. The solo show includes a series of new works each of which is entitled Object. Willenbecher’s works are made of acrylic paint and circles of metallic leaf on fiberboard.

The paintings may be positioned in any way—there is no right side up—and the shelf on which they rest is a part of the work. Each composition contains a group of interwoven geometric figures. These include: the equilateral triangle (from the tetrahedron), the circle (from the sphere); the square (from the cube); and also the cone. These shapes have been a part of Willenbecher’s work for over 60 years. as-is Gallery hosts an art talk with Renée Petropoulos as well as Anthony Carfello. The evening will also feature a signing of the brochure Postcard View. This text reflects on a public sculpture Petropoulos completed several years ago, based on the same photograph referenced in the woven sculpture currently on view at as-is, and will provide added context to the work and also its origins. Tonight the West Coast Jewish Theatre kicks off its world premiere of Three Coconuts at the Miles Memorial Playhouse. Written and directed by Howard Teichman and Steven G. Simon, it is produced by Howard Teichman.
