In West Hollywood…In conjunction with the unveiling of STORIES: The AIDS Monument in West Hollywood, the Herb Ritts Foundation, in partnership with Fahey/Klein Gallery, and ONE Gallery present Herb Ritts: Allies & Icons – an intimate exhibition of Herb Ritts’ photographs that honor the activists, artists, and cultural leaders who helped transform the global fight against AIDS.

This exhibition, Herb Ritts: Allies & Icons, brings together striking black and white portraits of the cultural figures who stood at the forefront of AIDS activism — including Elizabeth Taylor, Elton John, Magic Johnson, Madonna, Barbra Streisand, Sharon Stone, Tina Turner, Keith Haring, and many others. Each subject used their voice, fame, and influence to fight stigma, support research, and also bring compassion to a world gripped by fear.

Ritts himself lived with AIDS and was also a steadfast supporter of amfAR, The Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation, Project Angel Food, APLA, and was a charter member for the Elton John AIDS Foundation. In Beverly HillsGagosian debuts if you came this way, an exhibition of new works by Edmund de Waal. The exhibition features porcelain vessels, lyrically arranged in vitrines alongside glimpses of other materials. These installations act as repositories of memory, archives, and also language.

Beverly Hills

An Inspector Calls, written by J.B. Priestley classic mystery opens at Theatre 40. The classic mystery directed by Cate Caplin is produced for Theatre 40 by David Hunt Stafford. A young woman meets with an untimely demise and a respectable family is subject to a routine inquiry in connection with the death. The theatre is located on the campus of Beverly Hills High School. Ample free underground parking is available via a driveway at the intersection of Durant and Moreno Drives. Michael Werner Gallery, Beverly Hills debuts Paradise Valley, an exhibition of new paintings and works on paper by the painter Brett Goodroad (b. 1979 in Kearney, Nebraska). This exhibition marks the artist’s first solo exhibition in Los Angeles and his first with the gallery. The artist finds inspiration from nature for Nature inspires the artist’s work, who is known for painting en plein air. Lisson Gallery Los Angeles welcomes the return of renowned artist Olga de Amaral, whose groundbreaking work has pushed the boundaries of weaving since the 1960s. Spanning works from the 1970s to 2018, the exhibition features iconic pieces from her practice.

Melrose Hill

David Zwirner celebrates its third solo exhibition with the Zimbabwean artist Portia Zvavahera (b. 1985). However, it is also the first solo exhibition for the artist in Los Angeles since 2017.

This presentation will feature a series of new paintings as the Zvavahera expands her practice with familiar motifs and narratives. Moreover she continues to spotlight how dreams, ritual, and faith intertwine within contemporary art.
