Regen Projects

Thursday, November 6 2025

In HollywoodRegen Projects hosts a reception for Marilyn Minter’s fourth solo exhibition with the gallery. In four distinct but related groups of paintings—large-scale portraits, the Odalisque and After Guston series, and a selection of her iconic magnified mouths—Minter’s hyperrealist approach simultaneously subverts and pays homage to art historical conventions of portraiture and representation. The works on view exemplify both the technical sophistication of the artist’s enamel painting process, which she has spent decades refining, and the personal immediacy of her relationship to her subjects and artistic antecedents. Art Party: 6-8pm; Regency Projects, 6750 Santa Monica Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90038; https://www.regenprojects.com

West Hollywood

7811 Gallery debuts Steven Terrell Cogle: Pop Culture Junkie: A Journey into Black Television, Cinema, and Experiences 1975-1995. The solo exhibit is a love letter to a cultural era that shaped Black identity, reinterpreted through the artist’s deeply personal lens and layered, expressive style. Brooklyn-born and raised, Cogle transforms the gallery into living memory — where bold colors meet cracked sidewalks, and vintage television flickers beside street corner block parties. Save the date: Nov 9 for an artist talk; Art Party: 6-9pm; 7811 Gallery, 7811 Melrose Ave, LA, 90046; https://www.7811gallery.com
