Downtown…Two new exhibitions open at Hauser Wirth – Bacchanalia by Flora Yukhnovich as well as Handshake by Lee Lozano. Both solo shows will run through January 18, 2026.

British painter Flora Yukhnovich reimagines art history through vibrant reinterpretations of French Rococo, Italian Baroque, and Abstract Expressionism. She explores movement and materiality through cascading compositions that fluidly merge figuration and abstraction. For her first solo exhibition in Los Angeles, Yukhnovich unveils a new collection inspired by Bacchanalia, celebrating excess, sensuality, and vitality.

The exhibition “Lee Lozano. Hard Handshake” unites more than 100 drawings created between 1959 and 1968, charting the artist’s fearless evolution. Working with astonishing speed, Lozano experimented with diverse techniques to produce drawings that pulse with intensity and wit. Her sharp humor and unflinching perception expose and critique societal structures—especially gender roles, property, and the commercialization of art.

In conjunction with the show, Hauser & Wirth Publishers will release “In the Studio: Lee Lozano,” a comprehensive volume by Lucrezia Calabrò Visconti. The book examines Lozano’s practice and enduring impact, underscoring her pivotal role in redefining artistic independence and conceptual rigor.
