The world premiere musical of IT’S ALL YOUR FAULT, TYLER PRICE! kicks off tonight. The production is presented by Ben Decter (Netflix’s Lucifer) and Kristin Hanggi (Broadway’s Rock of Ages, Los Angeles) at Hudson Backstage Theatre. The musical follows Jackson, a middle school boy with big feelings who’s in big trouble after punching his bullying classmate, Tyler Price. This was in retaliation for mocking Jackson’s sister, Lucy who attends the same school’s special day class for epilepsy and related learning challenges. To avoid expulsion, Jackson’s principal insists he explain himself to the entire school. In response, Jackson stages a scrappy, heartfelt musical using music he “borrows” from his composer dad. Thus through each family member’s bravery, we watch healing begin for all.

The show runs Thu, Nov 07 – Sun, Dec 15, 2024; Performance: 7:30pm; Tickets range from $25+fee to $79+fee; Hudson Backstage Theatre; 6539 Santa Monica Blvd., LA, 90038; https://www.tylerpricemusical.com/

In Beverly Hills…Gagosian presents Frost, an exhibition of new abstract paintings by Sabine Moritz. This is the artist’s second exhibition with the gallery and her first on the West Coast.

Moritz’s paintings, drawings, and prints envision moments suspended in time. In her earlier work, the artist juxtaposes interpretations of her immediate surroundings and signifiers of the natural world with deconstructed documentary images. In many of her recent canvases, she adopts a more narrative approach, which she augments by using a horizontal format. Thus she continually alters and deploys a wide range of abstract and symbolic motifs. Moritz explores the dynamics of transience and decay in works that locate personal experiences within broadly shared histories. Art Party: 6-8pm; Gagosian, 456 North Camden, Drive, Beverly Hills, 90210; https://www.gagosian.com/
