On May 18, 2024 Giacomo Puccini’s Turandot presented by the LA Opera opens at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. Angela Meade and Russell Thomas star in the iconic opera which is conducted by Music Director James Conlon.
2024 Turandot at the LA Opera
The new-to-Los Angeles production stage designs for the new production are by the legendary Southern California artist David Hockney. LA Opera’s president and CEO Christopher Koelsch said he has been looking forward to this production. “David Hockney has been part of the LA Opera family since the company’s earliest seasons, designing landmark productions of Tristan und Isoldeand Die Frau ohne Schatten for us.”
Garnett Bruce will direct, while the costumes are designed by Ian Falconer. In addition, Gary Marder will recreate the original lighting designs of Thomas J. Munn. Chorus director is Jeremy Frank and the artistic director of the LA Children’s Chorus is Fernando Malvar-Ruiz. Kitty McNamee is the choreographer. The fight as well as intimacy director is Andrew Kenneth Moss.
There will be six performances of Turandot presented at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion.
