Morán Morán
Established in 2008, Morán Morán focuses on exhibitions of contemporary art. The gallery represents emerging and mid-career artists as well as presenting historical material. Since its early years, Morán Morán has supported exploration and collaboration, inviting curators and artists to conceive exhibitions, and performances. It hosts happenings to expand programming beyond the traditional gallery model. These endeavors imprinted a freeform and experimental identity early on. Therefore establishing a history of discovery that serves as the gallery’s foundation.
In the early 2010s, the gallery honed its artist representation and nearly doubled its programming, including the addition of the Robert Mapplethorpe estate in 2013. Consequently, the gallery grew a broader audience for all its artists. Moreover, it opened more opportunities for their work, unlimited in scope and scale. In 2021, Morán Morán underwent a significant expansion, moving into a larger space within Los Angeles. It also opened its first international outpost in Mexico City as well as adding the estates of John Giorno and Dash Snow to the roster. The gallery encourages all artists to experiment within their practice.
