In Culver City…Billis Williams Gallery offers an opening art party for THE FUTURE OF THE FIGURE on March 30, 2024 from 4-7pm. The Laguna College of Art Exhibition features Design BFA Candidates in Drawing Painting under the Mentorship of Kenny Harris.

Laguna College of Art Exhibition

LCAD’s undergraduate program is one of the few that focuses on providing students with a robust foundatio. It includes representational drawing, as well as painting and sculpture with an emphasis on academic figuration. The painters coming out of the program are producing work that is exciting, innovative and also deeply rooted in technique.

With that groundwork, these young artists have a unique skillset at hand to explore and therefore depict their life experiences. These artists are coming of age in a world steeped in technology and digital media and yet are creating work that will resonate far beyond the current moment.

The work in Laguna College Art Exhibition draws deeply on historic technique and juxtaposes that with voices that are strikingly contemporary.

Billis Williams Gallery

The gallery opened in 2004 as George Billis Gallery Los Angeles. Tressa Williams joined as director in 2009 and then became managing partner in 2021.

Billis Williams Gallery presents emerging to mid-career artists with a focus on painting. It is dedicated to exhibiting exceptional work in richly varied visual vocabularies ranging from abstraction to photorealism. The gallery builds on this long legacy with a special focus on Southern California painters.
