Gallery Luisotti Ron Jude

Ron Jude, Maritime Forest, 2021, 18 x 24 in.
While his past show focused on the mechanics of our planet, Low Tide brings together images of rocks and water. Moreover he has combined more organic life such as fungi, sea anemone, as well as a maritime forest. This continues his expansion of the Forest Floor epilogue component of his 12 Hz monograph from 2020.
Ron Jude: Low Tide
The title, Low Tide, references the literal subject matter of many of the images. Therefore this alludes figuratively to the ebb and flow of anxiety in our increasingly strained environmental and political moment. As the ocean surface recedes, a fleeting glimpse of deep structure is uncovered. Then terrestrial forces and the alien in the form of fungi, sea anemone, are revealed. In addition a maritime forest further expands on the Forest Floor epilogue component of his 12 Hz monograph from 2020.
Through his photographs, the artist chooses to spotlight the delicate dance of the ocean as it recedes and flows. Thus revealing the alien world of sea life compressed into stark black and white images. The absence of the tide is what creates these temporary landscapes.
