Jacqueline Woods, Expedition, 2022

Duncan Miller Gallery Jacqueline Woods

Woods’ camera-less photograph series, The Black Sun, evokes the timeless, mystical moment that one experiences while gazing at an eclipsed sun. Blacks, ochres, grays, blues as well as green mimic the celestial spheres, and a reversed sun hangs with burning light encircling it against deep space. Created via the artist’s manipulation of chemicals, light, and also vintage photographic papers these unique images are powerful, ethereal and transcendent.
