Blue Note Los Angeles presents Saxophonist and composer Isaiah Collier and his quartet, The Chosen Few on Monday, September 8, 2025. Two performances 7pm and 9:30pm.

This concert marks the final year of touring for the ensemble. Collier will perform music from his critically acclaimed album, The World is On Fire. This record confronts modern social unrest with bold, urgent energy. Using real news clips, Collier creates a raw, sonic reflection of systemic injustice, economic strife, in addition to protest. The album honors lives lost to violence, including Ahmaud Arbery, Sandra Bland, and George Floyd.
About Isaiah Collier
Raised in Chicago’s South Side, Collier is a “Sonic Scientist” who merges jazz history with cutting-edge sound. Collier has emerged as one of the most exciting voices in contemporary jazz. His work has earned numerous accolades from prestigious institutions and publications across the world. He blends improvisation and intention, creating music that honors tradition while pushing boundaries.
His honors include the Steve Jobs Archive Fellowship and Chicago Tribune’s 2024 Jazz Chicagoan of the Year. He graced DownBeat Magazine’s April 2025 cover and earned multiple DownBeat Critics Poll awards. The New York Times named The Almighty one of 2024’s best jazz albums. NPR’s Jazz Night in America also spotlighted his work The Story of 400 Years.

Collier’s collaborators include NEA Jazz Masters Billy Hart and Marshall Allen, Makaya McCraven, Randy Brecker, and also Nicole Mitchell. He is a key member of the Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians (AACM), contributing to Chicago’s deep saxophone legacy.
Known for fearless experimentation as well as spiritual depth, Collier channels innovation with reverence. His performances offer more than music—they ignite reflection and demand attention.
