On Saturday, November 2, 2024,  the Venice Arts Gala is back! The annual gala is celebrating this important nonprofit’s 30 year anniversary. Community members come together to support this special nonprofit’s transformative media arts education, college success and creative career programs. This include a special tribute to Lynn Warshafsky, founding director of Venice Arts and the launch of The Sky Fund in honor of Warshafsky.

The festive night will include delicious hors d’oeuvres catered by Great Taste Catering, while sipping on wines and specialty drinks. Attendees can bid on photos by professional photographers and student photographers as well as dinners at local restaurants, hard-to-get wines, one-of-a-kind jewelry, and other silent auction objects. Sway to the sounds of a teen jazz trio, and even have talented students draw your caricature or take your photo in the comics room and photo booth.

The Nonprofit

Venice arts was founded in 1993. It began utilizing an all-volunteer crew of photographers who understood the power of visual storytelling and self-representation. Their goal was to offer their talents to kids marginalized because of their economic class, race, or immigration status. The very first workshop, Venice Through Our Eyes taught 10 kids how to use their camera to explore, describe, and share their world.

Today, the nonprofit serves over 450 low-income young people, each year. The core program is Art Mentoring & Education. It engages a broad community at the Venice Arts Gallery through exhibitions, screenings, as well as public programs.
