Grand Ave Arts: All Access is an all day free event taking place downtown…centered around Grand Avenue. Events include architecture tours, workshops, museum exhibitions, performances, food and drink and kids screenings. Events are free and open to the public.
This is the second year in a row, and most of the events will happen on Grand Avenue between Temple and Sixth Streets. Highlights include the chance to conduct a small chamber orchestra at the Colburn School; two free recitals from up-and-coming LA Opera resident musicians; a Day of the Dead celebration at Grand Park and free admission to MOCA.
The Broad, Center Theatre Group, Colburn Schoo, Grand Park, LA Opera, LA Phil, Los Angeles Central Library, Los Angeles Master Chorale, MOCA, The Music Center, REDCAT, etc.
MOCA Grand Avenue will provide free admission to the galleries all day, and gallery tours of the museum’s permanent collection devoted exclusively to contemporary art.
MOCA also welcomes Curate LA who will present Here, a generative digital installation by Alex Benzer and Shelley Holcomb (Curate LA) that conflates participants’ own bodies with Los Angeles geography, icons, and symbols. The piece, housed in MOCA’s Ahmanson Auditorium, interacts with viewers to express our collective role in defining our cultural identity. On view from 10am to 5pm.
Additionally, NTS Radio DJs will broadcast live music and special performances with three sets throughout the day on MOCA’s outdoor plaza. DJs include Tre Jenkins, Jonny Mons, and Whits & Giggles.
