18th Street Arts Center (1639 18th St., SM 90404) presents “Damir Avdagic: Repriza/Uzvracanje  (Reprise/Response)” has CANCELED the opening reception on March 12.

From 18th Street Arts Center:
Out of an abundance of caution, and following calls in the region to limit public events, we are cancelling the opening of Damir Avdagic’s solo exhibition Repriza/Uzvracanje (Reprise/Response) that was scheduled to take place today from 6-8 PM.

HOWEVER, the show will be open through April 25 during our open hours (M-F from 11am – 5pm) and outside of those hours by appointment. If you would like to come see the show, one of us would be happy to receive you and give you a walkthrough (while maintaining good hygiene and a safe distance away!) Please reply to this email to take us up on this offer.

Damir Avdagic’s project explores the ways past events transmit between generations and how they affect the present. The artist features his latest video piece Repriza/Uzvracanje (Reprise/Response) (2018), in which four people in their mid-60s from ex-Yugoslavia, perform a transcribed conversation from the piece Reenactment/Process (2016), in which four people in their mid-20s discuss the inter-generational frictions they experience between themselves and their parents relating to the conflict in ex-Yugoslavia. Both video pieces will be on view.
