“Seven out of ten people experience trauma and creating art in a safe atmosphere is a powerful way to process these experiences,” says AWBW founder Cathy Salser. “Our program gives that opportunity to people across the country who wouldn’t otherwise have it, including over 11,000 in Los Angeles last year alone. Art in the Afternoon is a fun way to celebrate the power of creativity hands-on, while raising vital funds to support survivors in their healing journeys.” This year’s festival will be emceed by Wendy Burch, Emmy-winning journalist currently reporting for award-winning KTLA Morning News on Channel 5 and her four-year old son Brady Burch. The viral tap group Syncopated Ladies will also appear on stage, along with popular interactive performances by Hoop It Up Kids and LA Dancefit.

Admission includes multiple opportunities for festival goers to make their own art, including creating personalized tool kits, modeled after AWBW’s dynamic arts curriculum, to promote creativity and wellness in their daily lives and a special felt workshop hosted by Billy Kheel of NBC’s “Making It.” There will be fun-filled activities for all ages: face painting; flower crown making; a beer and wine garden; carnival games with prizes; a bounce slide; and an incredible silent auction. Tickets include delicious food from Panda Express, Corner Bakery and more.
