In Long Beach…C Gallery Fine Art (441 E. Broadway, Long Beach, 90802) spotlights the art of Linh Do. There will be a closing reception on March 7, 2020 from 1-6pm. For more info, go the the Upcoming Page, under the Visual Arts drop-down, or CLICK HERE for more info. The artist loves to make, draw and paint things inspired by whisky. She woke up one morning and the first thought that came to mind was that she should use whisky as a muse to write poetry. With the encouragement of Martin Daraz, a brand ambassador of Highland Park whisky, she was told it was her destiny to be in the whisky industry. She believes in the power of whisky that can bring people from different backgrounds together and connect over a dream or five.
She does color and black & white prints and labels, as well as custom, whisky inspired dresses and accessories. American, Scottish and Japanese Distilleries with brands such as Jim Beam, Woodford, Four Roses, Buffalo Trace, Wild Turkey, Dalmore, Lagavulin, Tormore, Laphroaig, Springbank, Speyburn, anCnoc, Edrington Company and Fukano (Japan) have commissioned her work.
She designs and sews her own scotch-themed dresses! Each dress design is very personal: a combination of the whiskey, her experience with the whiskey, and the people who represent the brand… and it is what the brand means to her. She has made dresses inspired by the likes of Ardbeg, Aaran, The Balvenie, Bruichladdich, Glenfarclas, Glengrant, Glenmorangie, Highland Park, Kilchoman, Laphroiag, and more.
Linh loves to create art that’s inspired by alcohol and fuse it with modern and post-modern literature through sewing, painting and drawing. Like whisky and fabric, she loves feeling texture. Linh prints most of her images in Cold Press paper for its thickness, weight and feel.
Linh is a recipient of Glenfiddich’s 2019 Artist in Residency and she has spoken about her art at Yale University. She has also been interviewed by LA Magazine and the Whisky Advocate regarding her artwork.
